Frequently Asked Questions

Eligibility & Getting Started
Who can apply for financing with TruCapital?

TruCapital works with owner-operators, single-truck businesses, and fleets of every size across Canada, plus construction, agriculture, manufacturing, forestry, and waste-management operators. Whether you are an established company or just getting started, we can structure financing to fit your business.

Do I need good credit to qualify?

No. All credit types are welcome. We work with top banks and private lenders, so whether you have strong credit, limited history, or past challenges like a bankruptcy or collections, we can match you with a program and a fair rate for your situation.

Can I get financed as a first-time owner-operator or startup?

Yes. We offer startup-friendly financing for first-time authorities and new trucking businesses. Our lenders look at your driving experience, credit, and business plan — not just time in business — so you can finance your first truck and start earning.

What documents do I need to apply?

To keep your approval fast, have a government-issued photo ID, your business registration, recent business bank statements, and a quote or invoice for the equipment ready. Truck deals may also need your Articles of Incorporation. We’ll tell you exactly what your specific program requires.

Does TruCapital serve businesses across all of Canada?

Yes. TruCapital arranges commercial equipment and truck financing for owner-operators and fleets nationwide — coast to coast across every province and territory. You can reach an advisor at +1 (437) 374-3784 or info@trucap.ca.

Rates, Terms & Payments
How are my interest rates determined?

Rates are based on your credit profile, time in business, the type and age of the equipment, and the length of the term. Because we shop multiple banks and private lenders on your behalf, you receive competitive pricing without applying to each lender yourself.

What financing terms are available?

Terms typically range from 12 to 72 months, with flexible monthly or step-payment structures. We tailor the term and down payment to your cash flow so your payments match how your business actually earns.

Is 0% down financing really available?

Yes — 0% down is available on approved credit (OAC) for qualifying trucks and trailers. Your exact down payment depends on the unit, its age, and your credit profile, and your advisor will show you the options before you commit.

Can I set flexible payment options?

Absolutely. Flexible payment structures are available, so your payments can be arranged to suit your business and cash flow.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. We believe in transparent terms with no hidden fees. Your advisor walks you through the full cost — rate, term, and payment — so you know exactly what you are agreeing to before you sign.

Can I pay off my financing early?

Many of our lender programs allow early payout. Terms vary by program, so your advisor will confirm any early-payment conditions up front so you can plan with confidence.

Equipment & Assets
What types of equipment can I finance?

We finance a wide range of commercial assets — highway trucks, day cabs, vocational trucks, and every trailer type (dry van, reefer, flatbed), plus construction, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, and waste-management equipment. New or used, dealer or private sale.

Do you finance used or older equipment?

Yes. We finance both new and used equipment, including older units, with terms based on the asset’s age and condition along with your profile. Older trucks and trailers are financed every day.

Can I finance equipment bought from a private seller?

Yes. We offer private-sale financing for equipment purchased directly from another business or individual. We handle the appraisal, lien checks, and documentation so funds are released safely for both the buyer and the seller.

Can I refinance equipment I already own?

Yes. If you own equipment outright, a sale-leaseback or equity refinance can unlock the cash tied up in it while you keep using it. Refinancing an existing loan can also lower your monthly payment or free up working capital.

Application & Process
How long does the approval process take?

Most applications receive a decision within 24–48 hours, and straightforward deals are often pre-approved the same day. Once approved, funding can typically be arranged within a few business days of receiving your documents.

How does the application process work?

It is four simple steps: apply in minutes with a few business and equipment details, we shop your file across our lender network and return a tailored pre-approval, you review your rate and terms with an advisor, and once documents are signed we release funds to the seller.

Will applying affect my credit score?

A single application has minimal impact, and because we shop your one file across multiple lenders, you avoid the repeated hits that come from applying to each bank separately. Improved cash flow from the right financing can also strengthen your overall position.

Do I have to apply to each lender separately?

No. That is the advantage of working with a brokerage. You apply once, and TruCapital presents your file to the most suitable banks and private lenders, then brings you the best fit — saving you time and protecting your credit.

After Funding & Support
What support do I get after my deal is funded?

Our relationship does not end at funding. We are available for payment questions, refinancing, pre-approved lines for your next purchase, and planning future acquisitions — white-glove support for the life of your business.

Can I finance my next purchase later?

Yes. A pre-approved equipment line of credit lets you lock in a dedicated limit you can draw on for future purchases without re-applying each time — ideal for fleets that buy several times a year or bid at auctions.

What is invoice factoring and how does it help cash flow?

Invoice factoring advances you the cash tied up in unpaid freight invoices, so you are paid in days instead of waiting 30, 60, or 90 days. It covers fuel and payroll and lets you take on more loads without a cash crunch.
